Left Standing on the Altar Steps

Queenie shocked and distressedHow can this happen? The bride double booked!

We can all get a little confused and soon-to-be brides can be quite distracted, but to double book?

Luckily I spoke to a bridesmaid 30 minutes before the wedding. What I wanted was for her to try a poseball for height and it was indeed fortunate that I called her. After a small chat, and a couple of IMs around the place, the whole situation was revealed. The bride, after booking me and organising the ceremony (with various writes and rewrites of the Service), went off and booked elsewhere!

Disconcerting but not disastrous. But not telling me was pretty horrific.

Ah well. I suppose C….. went to one of those wedding sim places that are springing up all over. They charge quite a lot as a rule. I must have a look at some weddings they put on as, so far as I have seen them, they tend to concentrate on the reception side.

I’ve never seen any ceremony yet that’s on an equal with mine. Not very surprising when you consider what I do in RL.

Unless you count the ceremony I saw delivered by a Dutch-speaking woman who, in the middle of a speech which clearly showed English was her second language, suddenly trotted out a whole swathe of a ceremony of mine I had performed a month earlier, complete with my Latin typo. When I asked her about it, she replied that she “found it on the internet”. Very amusing.

However, that’s neither here nor there. If someone wants to take a chat log of a wedding there is nothing to stop them. There is no copyright on my words.

But back to the debacle this morning. To maintain my well-mannered persona I will assume that, in this case of me being left at the altar steps, the bride forgot she had booked twice and the wedding sim operator did not know. Pity I spent so much time preparing for this one though.
