I had a front row seat in a griefing attack today.
My little shop in the Skylight Village at Penrith was the scene for bombs and more bombs. Not that I was the target of this .. the attack was aimed at the Village itself, my store just happened to be close to the epicentre.
(That’s my shop on the left, if you peer at it you can just make out the red Kanga sign showing on my blue floor). A great many of my items have been destroyed, about $3000 worth, but it’s small change compared to the devastating effect on the Mall owner. She will doubtless expect her renters to leave in high dudgeon but I’m not leaving at all. Far from it ……
Lizzie Bergson runs the Skylight Village, she built it herself with just a little assistance from partner Mic, and they’ve done a fine job with the homes, shops and pretty open spaces. It’s Lizzie who organises the entertainment, the music, the trivia nights and, before the gambling bans, the Slingo Games.
Mic and Lizzie are charming people, willing to assist anyone and amiable to all. It was Mic who built my little wedding pavilion for peanuts (as a favour, said Lizzie) and I was saddened to hear that they had lost heavily when Gingko went belly-up. And now this.
I am assured the culprit will be tracked down and his/her account terminated but in the meantime the whole Sim has been going down every half hour, and some scores of people are left unable to get to their homes.
Why? Is there a reason why people behave like this? Apart from the childish destruction and sheer bloody-mindedness. Is there something in the water?
